After a rollercoaster of a year travelling the north eastern US and even up into Nova Scotia, we have returned south for the winter! We’re not quite at the annual snowbird level just yet, but for lots of reasons a return to Houston just seems to make some good sense for now.

On the way south from New England however, we had a few stops to make. I’ll elaborate on each of these more in their own posts I promise, but for now… here’s the highlights:

Pigeon Forge, TN is a great place we love to visit! This time through we were able to of course eat at our favorite restaurant The Old Mill again – a few times – and even finally catch a show of Dolly Parton’s Lumberjack Adventure. We were also very happy to be able to spend a few days relaxing with Melody’s mom who came through to visit with us.

Nashville, TN was a stop on the route home as well and we had a great time finally being able to explore the downtown area a bit more and check out some of the venues, and even hear some of what will surely be country music’s next big stars. We were also so happy to finally have the chance to see a show at the Grand Ole Opry, and we’re definitely going to make that a must-see on our return trips through town from here on out.

Houston, TX is home sweet home (the kind that doesn’t move) for Melody, and it’s become a nice comfortable place for me after a few years of adjusting as well. We’re ecstatic to be ‘home’ and around friends again. We’re going to take every minute we can to soak up time and stories and happiness around them, and plan out the next year’s worth of adventures!

Plans for the winter here in TX include focusing on some upgrades and maintenance on the RV, and organizing next years schedule a bit more based around what we’ve learned this year. Nothing is set in stone, and that was always kind of what I wanted going into this – the ability to change direction as needed/desired easily – but having some kind of a framework is important to keep things moving forward in whatever direction that happens to be at the moment.

It’s been a while since either of us have written anything here, mainly due to my work, and Melody’s focus on her photography business lately. I’m going to try and do my best to change that, I promise!
