Well, the trip 2 weekends ago to Lake Cachuma was a success in that me and Gena got a relaxing weekend away from the kids and work stress, and we had a lot of fun just being camp bums. The intent was to hang out all weekend with other Honda Element owners from the Element Owners Club, but apparently the threat of the slightest drips of rain was enough to scare most of them off from the trip. Only one other E owner showed up and spent the weekend camping, as our neighbor. I guess it’s not so bad all said and done, as it left more great chili for us!
Along the way this trip, things we learned include:

Our tent stakes were too thin to really handle some of the hard parts in the ground, and we’ll need to upgrade to some sturdier ones when we get the chance before the next trip.

I should leave the cooler packing to Gena.

Always zip up your tent and keep the pulls at the top. Otherwise, become very friendly with the local wildlife in your own tent.
The main goal of the weekend though was met for me, which was to kick us back into the camping mood, and get us motivated to get out of the house more. With the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, that will be very important once in a while! Oh and yes, Hazen and Mike LOVED the trip as always!
