Cachuma on the horizon!

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

So, tonight it comes down to the wire.  We’ve planned a trip to Lake Cachuma, which timed with my decreasingly plentiful time off, required most of the leg work be done in about a week.  Tonight after I get home we’ll pack up our E’s and head on out to Lake Cachuma (map) near Santa Barbara.  This is the lake that Gena’s family used to camp at quite a bit (among others) when she was a kid, so it will be nice to head back there and discover new territory for myself, while she rediscovers it from her early years.

This trip will also serve as the all important “test run” for most of our equipment of course.  We haven’t even been able to set up our tents yet because our apartment is just far too small, let alone with all of the gear stacked in the living room lately!  We’ll also be tossing our luck at camp cooking, which neither of us have really done in … quite some time anyway.

So wish us luck, and stay tuned for what is sure to be 100′s of photos from Gena’s new Nikon D80 outfit, and our first adventure in family camping!

Camofrogs!

So, potentially THE most important peice of camping gear finally arrived the other night.  Without it, we just had no idea what we would do!  We’re now happy to say though, that both of our Italian Greyhounds will be sporting very fashionable, and oh so functional Camofrog jammies!

Since we’re gearing up mainly for our Yellowstone trip which will be the first “big” trip we take, jammies and coats for the boys are very important to us and we thought these would just be the tops.  These should keep them pretty snuggly warm at night, combined with the inevitable burrowing down to the bottoms of our sleeping bags!

We’re also going to be picking up with some luck, some camouflage jackets with body suits under them for the hiking portions of the trip.

You can of course see more photos of the Camofrog jammies, and the Camouflage jackets when they arrive, over at Hazen and Mike’s own website: http://www.ImNotAWhippet.com

You can also find handy links to the maker of their jammies and other such accessories there as well!
